Team Lîla
Founded in 2005, Lîla Dance are a small, friendly, hardworking team, who cover everything from marketing, finance to tour booking. We work with talented freelancers who bring their own creative magic to each production from dancers and dramaturgs to designers.
Abi Mortimer, Artistic Director
Abi co-founded Lîla Dance with Carrie in 2005. She choreographs and directs the touring productions, dances in the work, delivers commissions, classes and does the book-keeping. Abi’s love for dancing began at a young age, through obsessively imitating Michael Jackson in his Dangerous concert.
Carrie Whitaker, Artistic Director
Carrie co-founded Lîla Dance with Abi in 2005. She choreographs and directs the touring productions, performs in the work, delivers commissions and teaches for the company. Carrie is a master at sourcing all the working props we need in charity shops!
Lou Rogers, Producer
Lou has worked with Lîla Dance as their Producer since January 2017. She books the tours, writes the funding applications, collaborates in the studio and builds new partnerships. Lou buys the biscuits and fixes things when they break.
Amy Morvell, Creative Assistant
Amy has been involved in all our ventures since 2017. She dances in the work, delivers classes and commissions for the company, takes beautiful photos and develops our social media content. Amy is exceptionally useful as long as she has eaten a Cadbury’s Twirl at lunchtime.
