Ten essential things every dancer needs

Assuming you already have Lîla’s ebook Making Dance, and the album Music for Choreography, here are ten other essential items to take with you into the studio:

  1. A spare change of clothes. I can get through at least 4 T-shirts in a day.

  2. A tennis, golf or cricket ballot get into the nitty-gritty. Nothing better than rolling out aching muscles.

  3. A towel to soak up the sweat because no one wants to slip on numerous sweat pools!

  4. A pot of tiger balm to rub into your muscles, I really like the smell which is a bonus. Hot and Spicy.

  5. A selection of good songs to kick start the day. All guilty pleasure allowed.

6. A constant supply of water… Oh and a morning coffee kick!

7. A good lunch, very important for keeping the energy levels topped up.

8. A positive, mindful, and careful approach to your fellow artists. Good vibes, good days!

9. A video camera to record choreography so I don’t forget anything. Also helpful for capturing behind the scenes silliness!

10. A notebook to take notes in. You can also use the pages to make paper airplanes to throw in the break.

Have we missed anything off the list? Tweet us anything you take with you to every rehearsal.
